🎓 Understand this tool
What it is
A lookup for the current monthly VA disability payment at any combined rating and dependent combination — the exact figures from the verified VA.gov tables, not approximations.
How it works
For 10–20% the rate is flat. From 30% up, the tool selects your row (alone, with spouse, children, parents, and combinations), then applies the added amounts for each additional child and for a spouse receiving Aid & Attendance — mirroring how the VA tables are constructed.
Getting the most from it
- Pick your combined rating (combine individual ratings first if needed).
- Set your dependent situation — spouse, children under 18, school children, parents.
- Read the rate row and each addition so you can match them against your award letter.
Reading your result
The figure is monthly and tax-free. If your own payment differs, the usual causes are a dependent not yet on file, an offset, or a mid-year status change — each visible on your VA.gov payment history.
What it can't tell you
It reports published rates; it cannot see your file, offsets, or special monthly compensation (SMC), which uses different tables entirely.
Frequently asked questions
No — VA disability compensation is tax-free at the federal and state level.
